Skype with Helen - Module 3 Focus

I had never attended a module 3 focus before, as I am currently on module 2. Hesitant at first to sign up, I decided to go and prepare myself for my final module of this course. There was a variety of students from module 2 and 3, and was surprised at how inter-connected the modules were. I did not just sit and and listen, but participated greatly.

We compared the artefact from module 1 and module 3. We acknowledged that along this continual learning journey, skills and knowledge from module 1 develops right through to module 3 and, hopefully, beyond into professional life.

The non-linear journey is the most important thing!
As you write reflection essays, look into yourself and what you have learnt, there is no right or wrong. Acknowledging things you could have done better, things you surprised yourself with, aspects you improved on, skills you developed.

In terms of the discussion of artefacts, it was interesting to hear from the module 3 students. Helen first asked module 2 students what they thought at artefact was, considering we just did it in module 1. Us discussing our thinking process of what an artefact was, in turn, helped the module 3 students with their artefact ideas. In module 3, it is important to make your artefact non-written to contrast with the written dissertation. You may use a physical aid, visual presentation, video footage, anything that resonates with your inquiry process. If you feel that you have grown as a person, you can use the artefact to present this somehow. The artefact must be relevant to you and your practice, and what you have discovered from participating in the BAPP course.

Helen stated something that really struck me, and that is we decided to do a professional practice course, not a dance or musical theatre or teaching one. The supervisors hope that we carry on our skills into the professional environment.

And lastly, we are ARTISTS! Artists = PASSION-DRIVEN AND EMOTIVE. We can show our artistic side through our artefacts, whereas our dissertations are the academic side of ourselves.
