Mapping ethical considerations within my field of practice

Hello BAPP community. I have many blog post ideas, but I thought I would begin with one of the study activities from the ACI3611 handbook that are suggested on page 58. I did not find mapping my field of practice a time consuming task, but one that really allowed me to delve deeper into how my practice connects to ethics. The theme of ethical consideration is mainly used, discussed and intertwined in module 2 and 3, however I felt it was a good start to introduce myself to this topic. Lens 2: reflection, ethics and reflexivity is very interesting. Graham McFee's words (1992) "I must know what the words 'unmarried', 'married' mean, if I am to understand what is being said when you claim that a bachelor is an unmarried man". This represents the idea that the first stage of knowledge is confusion. Living out in the world, experiencing life, reflecting along the way will help our learning. Before you know something, however factual or not, you must first not know it. I have indulged slightly in this feeling of the unknown in creating my first map below:

  1. This is a really useful visual Serina, I love how connected everything is yet how varied the points are. Thank you for sharing this - it has really helped me to think of a way the web of connections and thought processes which live in your head can be set down in a way that would make sense to somebody external!
